Apple denied Samsung Galaxy S3 ban

News
Why is this important?
Everyone in the tech world seems to be suing each other, as patents become more pertinent than products.
The lowdown...
Apple has been denied a court order to prevent arch-rival Samsung from selling the Galaxy S3 smartphone in the US. It applied for the injunction last week, as part of an ongoing dispute between the firms which has is due to go to trial on 23rd June. Apple claims that Samsung’s smartphones are in breach of design patents owned by the company relating to its iPhone.
If you haven’t heard about the ongoing patent wars that have been raging between tech firms all over the world lately, you’re lucky. As competition hots up around mobile devices, devices have been banned from Europe to Australia as Apple accuses Samsung and other Android manufacturers of copying them. Google is also being sued by Oracle over the design of Android software itself.
It all gets a bit mad when you realise that Samsung is also one of Apple’s key suppliers, having manufactured processors for most i-devices for a long time. Given the enormous cost of these court cases, the biggest winners are always the lawyers, of course, and the losers the consumers who end up having to foot the bill.
